Oceania 2084 - October update
Hello everyone!
I just wanted to let you all know that this game is still being developed!
I am working hard on processing the finished rules into a more palatable structure. Since June earlier this year me and Adam are reworking, reformulating, and restructuring the rule book. This work is much needed and an important step for me to take. It will add the extra attention to detail needed to make Oceania as good of a game as it possibly can be. As soon as the restructuring is done, the full rule set will be released as a free text-only version - "Oceania 2084 - The Austere Edition".
That will also mark the start of a planned Kickstarter campaign, that will focus on bringing the book to print and allowing it to get the visual treatment and style of the preview file that you can find attached to this post! I hope that this makes you even half as excited as it makes me, as this would be the first ever creation of mine actually printed in a more organized manner. The starting date of this campaign is still not set, and is dependent on when we finish the work with the "Austere Edition".
The following is the current version of the text meant to be on the back of the book:
Everything is wrong.
It took me a long time to realize this. I screamed at the figure of hate like everyone else. But it’s wrong.
We are all alone. All isolated.
We are afraid to think in case He hears…in case They hear. Because everyone – anyone – is your enemy.
And I. Am. So. Alone.
I could apply for a husband. But why would I want someone to just go through the façade with? I wish I could remember what the act was that used to mean a feeling between other people. Even if there was one. If there was ever one.
But. I am fighting back. I’ve found a place where I can’t be seen.
If you’re reading this, you’re like me. You feel it too. You know it too.
Leave something for me, too.
The world is wrong
Imagine a world where the media dictates who is good and who is bad.
Where the only emotional outburst permissible is the nightly hate on the bad people.
Where the status quo is policed by might and fear.
Where you dress, work, look, socialize, and do what you’re told. When you’re told.
And any attempt to step outside of that is to invite violence into your life. State attention, people informing on you until, one night, you are whisked away and are no more.
This is the world that you will enter into and into this world you will attempt to make connections, to fight a tiny rebellion. You know that this is futile, and going down this path will end unpleasantly.
But you know that you have nothing to lose and that gives you something you’ve not felt in a long while.
Hope.

A5 is the perfect size. Kind of like a notebook. Very Winston.
The previous playtest contents pages showed no mention of a solo mode. However you had previously stated that this would be part of the game. Can you confirm that will still be the case? This game, more than any other, cries out for solo journaling.

This is still the case, but I have moved on from an initial idea of how to make it a reality onto a new idea. The release of that will not be synchronous to the first release though.
