Control

Control is a system aimed at capturing the idea of how in certain situations we must remain in control of our emotions. 

The system is useable mainly in horror, stealth, and settings that demand a very scripted social decorum. Examples of these could be in games inspired by Jane Austen, horror survival games such as Alien or Kult, or perhaps when playing as a spy.

The system consists of a few moving parts; 6 core emotions, a set of values, a stress level, and memories. To determine outcomes it uses a roll-under/roll-over system inspired by Lasers & Feelings (Harper, 2013) that is connected to both the values and the emotions. There is also a list of negative effects of being overcome by ones negative emotions called outbursts. It is intentionally leaving out defining a certain die size, this is to allow for probability modification (leading to tone adjustment).  

It is very possible to combine this with any of your favorite rules for physical resolutions (combat rules), adding on a health system, or perhaps some skill systems. 

Version 1.0 or 1.1 is not heavily tested, and revisions will be coming as more feedback is gathered. 

UPDATE 2021-12-16: An embarrassing bug in the system was located by the Reddit user u/lpicador, today I have updated the rules, if you have already downloaded the system I really recommend downloading it again. The new version is v. 1.1.
